Patients struggling with mild to moderate facial imperfections often turn to plastic surgery for help. While some people have no problem undergoing extensive surgery and having a long recovery, others desire a treatment that can produce long-lasting results in a matter of minutes.
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a natural way of stimulating and maintaining skin health. PRP is blood plasma containing a high concentration of platelets, which include several growth factors that can regenerate healthy tissue to help the skin heal and renew itself.
What Are the Benefits of PRP Therapy?
PRP is an effective form of both corrective and preventative skin care using the patient’s own blood to rejuvenate facial skin. The injected PRP is known to stimulate cellular growth, collagen production, blood vessel formation, and healing. This treatment can be used to improve skin tone and soften skin texture. PRP can also slow the aging process and keep your skin looking young and vital.
Am I a Good Candidate for PRP Therapy?
Patients can benefit from our PRP treatment if they identify with one or more of the following facial concerns:
What Will My PRP Procedure Be Like?
PRP injections are done on an outpatient basis and can be performed as a PRP (vampire) facelift or facial. During your procedure, blood is extracted from a vein in your arm. Then the blood is put through a centrifuge to isolate the PRP, a process that takes about 20 minutes. Once your blood has been purified, the PRP is injected into the treated area to produce a rejuvenated appearance.
What Will My Recovery Be Like?
PRP can take approximately two hours to complete and there is little to no downtime required. You will be able to return to normal activities the next day, and any swelling or redness will fade over the next few days.
What Results Can I Expect?
PRP injections yield youthful and natural-looking results. Following your treatment, your skin will look brighter and more vibrant. A series of treatments may be recommended for the best results, which improve for up to three months and can last for two years. Patients who receive PRP injections can also expect softer, smoother, and younger-looking skin.
